The members of Star Team Yakutia’s inaugural season successfully passed the international SAT and IELTS exams in Istanbul (Turkey).
SAT and IELTS are among the most popular and sought-after international exams necessary for entrance to colleges across the world.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a worldwide system for evaluating English language competency. Admission to many colleges in the UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, the USA, and other nations where instruction is given in English requires this test.
A standard American exam called the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) is required for enroll at the majority of US colleges. Anyone who wants to study in one of the top colleges in the US is highly advised to take this exam. In light of the overwhelming number of applications, it is important to take advantage of every chance to stand out from the crowd. This is when having a good SAT score is beneficial.
Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and Math make up the two main components of the test. Each of the two has a maximum point limit of 800, for a possible total score of 1,600. Typically, the passing score is determined by the chosen college. A score of 1,100 points often increases the likelihood of achieving the «American dream» and enrolling at the preferred college. The test can be taken any number of times, and at least four times annually. The outcomes of the last six attempts are regarded as official results and may be submitted at admission.
Keep in mind that certain colleges choose to enroll students using the superscore, or maximum score method.
- Attempt 1: 600 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 750 for Math.
- Retake: 680 for Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and 700 for Math.
Using the superscore approach, the college will take the higher score in Math from the first exam and the higher score in Reading and Writing from the second one. You will consequently receive the highest possible score.
On September 30, Star Team Yakutia’s competitors landed in Turkey. On October 1, SAT exams were taken, while IELTS exams were held the next day. The participants handled the examinations without any issues despite the lengthy travel, the unexpected change in circumstances, and the hectic timetable. After two days of tests, on October 3, they embarked on a walking tour of the magnificent Istanbul, which was an incredible experience.
On October 6, the students went back to Yakutsk. They are currently expecting the exam results, which will be available in a few weeks. The results may come in handy very soon, as the early stage of applying for admission to US colleges starts in late October. Let’s wish good luck to our guys!
