Start Team members are expected to demonstrate excellent proficiency in English.
In late August, Star Team’s second season participants traveled from Yakutia to Almaty (Kazakhstan) to sit for the international IELTS and SAT exams. These tests are compulsory for foreigners aiming to get into top-tier universities.
The IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test took place on August 24. The youngsters needed to prove that they not only speak and write in English excellently but can also articulate thoughts and engage in constructive conversation. As education at top universities is conducted in English, proficiency in this language is crucial.
The SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) was conducted on August 26. This standardized test, akin to the USE, also assesses English language proficiency. The test also includes mathematical problems and essay writing. The SAT is held four times a year, and this year, for the first time, the exam could be taken online.
After the exams, the students explored Almaty and its landmarks as part of a guided tour.
IELTS results will be out in three to five days, and SAT results in two weeks. We trust that Star Team students will achieve high scores!
